NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY crashed out of the FA Trophy after a 2-1 defeat at Brigg Town in the preliminary round.
Andrew Flett broke the deadlock for the hosts after nine minutes, and it went from bad to worse for the Lilywhites after half-an-hour when Bruno Holden netted.
Alex Byrne did pull a goal back for Gareth McClelland's side with two minutes remaining, but Mossley could not force an equaliser and exit the competition, missing out on £2,200 prize money on offer for winning the tie.
OLDHAM Boro were held to a goalless draw at home to Holker Old Boys in the Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One.
The hosts should have been in front at the break after Jerome Bryson's long-range effort smacked the crossbar and Lee Knowles fired wide when one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Holker came back into it after the restart and deserved a share of the spoils.
Boro joint-boss Tony Mills said: "I am satisfied with a 0-0 draw because Holker are a very good side and it was difficult to play in such heavy rainfall.
"Jerome's effort was superb and Lee should have stuck the ball in the net.
"There were a few scrambles from corners and free-kicks where we could have done better, but they had good spells too so I cannot really argue with the result."
Mills is looking to add three new players to his squad this week, including former Mossley left-back Steven Shields.
CHADDERTON went down to a narrow 1-0 victory at Wigan Robin Park in the NWCL Division One.
Paul Buckley's side looked likely to grind out a 0-0 draw until Dean Calloway struck a 78th minute winner.
