RUGBY: OLDHAM St Anne’s lost 30-28 to unbeaten leaders Widnes West Bank, but the visitors required a last-gasp Ryan Millington try to secure the points.
Quick-fire tries by Dave Jones and Josh Simm, plus a Jones conversion, gave West Bank a 10-0 lead before Greg Worrall crossed for the first of his hat-trick of tries, Kiel Lancashire's kick reducing the deficit.
Worrall went over again, two more Lancashire goals increased the St Anne's lead and when Danny Kay crossed for a fine effort between the posts, Lancashire's boot helped make it 20-10 to the home side.
Steve Curphey's score and Steve Mellor's conversion brought it back before half-time, but Worrall's third converted effort put Saints 26-16 up.
West Bank tries from Jordan Barr and Jack White, plus a Dave Jones conversion, brought the game level.
Lancashire kicked a penalty to edge unlucky Saints in front 28-26, before Millington's intervention five minutes from full-time.
