RUGBY: OLDHAM RU enjoyed a comprehensive victory over Tarleton in North Lancashire Division One — their fourth successive home win.
A superb run at Manor Park has seen Guy Lovegreen’s side plunder 47 tries, score 165 points and concede just 21.
Skipper Gareth Barber returned following a leg injury that kept him out for three games.
The visitors took the game to Oldham but found a strong defence kept them at bay before the home backs opened up and John Gillam notched an unconverted try.
Mark Brocklehurst then crossed, with Josh Brown adding the extras.
Barber crashed over soon afterwards following good work from Michael Farrell. Brown goaled.
Farrell got in on the act himself just before the break, finishing off a fine Charlie Roscoe run. Brown’s successful conversion put Oldham in the clear at the break.
Adam Waterhouse touched down shortly after the restart following a neat pass from Nick Hackman, and Brown did the honours with the kick.
Brocklehurst grabbed his second of the game, as did Gillam, prior to Stephen Hastings driving over.
Brown added the extras for two of the tries to help his side reach the half-century.
Saturday sees Lovegreen’s lads travel to Birchfield in search of their first away points of the campaign.
