‘Big thanks’ to Roughyeds

RUGBY: WATERHEAD have paid tribute to Oldham Roughyeds after their home game against Crosfields was switched at late notice on Friday night.
The National Conference interim season fixture was initially supposed to be played out under lights at Saddleworth Rangers, with the evening kick-off designed to avoid a clash with Super League's Grand Final the following day.
But a late postponement due to adverse weather to put paid to the plan.
It meant a frantic search for a new venue on the day of the game — with Whitebank coming up trumps.
“We would like to extend a big thanks to Oldham and chairman Chris Hamilton for their assistance,” said Waterhead chairman Peter Beswick, whose club won the contest 20-4.
