Ethan’s eye-catching debut

RUNNING:

ATHLETES representing Oldham and Royton Harriers battled against dreadful weather conditions to post a clutch of excellent results in the latest round of the Red Rose Cross-Country League at Leigh.

Ethan Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere, making his debut for Harriers, claimed a fine fourth-place finish in the under-11s, crossing the line in five minutes 33 seconds.

In the girls’ race, Sophie Hall was 5th in 5:50, Eve Darraugh 24th (6:37) and Ellise Taylor 38th (7:22).

Joshua Lamanna was the runner-up in the under-13s race for boys, clocking 7:06.

He was followed by Philip Whitham, who 23rd in 8:08, James Kelly 26th (8:14), Joshua Decamps 30th (8:19), Alex Taylor 33rd (8:39), with the team coming third overall.

The girls also ran well, with Amber Boulton 30th in 9:26, Eleanor Makinson 31st (9:29), Alicia Kandeke 33rd (9:29).

In the senior women’s event, Jane Augsburger was 17th in 21:59, with Liz Whitworth 67th (26:59) and Pam Hudson 76th (27:46).

Trevor Davies was 60th (38:27) in the men’s section, with Daniel Timperley 79th (39:46), David Smith 88th (40:11), Darren Mannings 146th (44:56) and John Hudson 199th (56:12).

Meanwhile, in her first crack at the distance, Angela Kerslake posted a time of four hours 41 minutes and 50 seconds in the Chester Marathon.

And in a hilly 10km race in New Zealand, Oldham’s Mike Mannings finished an excellent second in just over 37 minutes.
