Mill Lodge laurels for ace Webb

DARREN Webb defied a poor draw to win ithe latest Dave Slattery Memorial match on Chadderton Mill Lodge.
Situated on unfancied peg one, the Medlock Road rod used maggot at 12 metres for ide, before switching to pellet at five metres for carp in a final tally of 56lb.
Mick Tighe used worm and caster at 10 metres and at full depth for a mixture of ide and carp in a 43lb 8oz net.
Jim Evans, in third place, had 37lb 5oz of ide and carp on the worm and caster approach.
First-round honours went to Conrad Taylor. Drawn on peg 16, Taylor opted for worm and caster on the deck at nine metres to catch 60lb 8oz of carp.
Paul Hill, the runner-up, was second-best.
He opted for maggot up in the water for plenty of ide, before a late switch down the side with maggot enticed 30lb of carp for a 48lb 8oz total.
Organiser Lee Humphries (GTI Matchman) was third with 41lb 6oz of ide on maggot and caster up in the water at 12 metres.
CHRIS Oliver claimed top honours in the Todmorden AS match on Croft.
Peg 20 came alive, with pole and pellet tempting 45lb of decent carp.
John Mellor, also using the pole and pellet combination, was second with a carp net of 27lb.
THE sixth round of the Pennine Winter League on the Rochdale Canal saw Carl Lowe emerge victorious with a 9lb catch.
He had one carp and some skimmers on the pole, worm and caster from a peg on the Gaswork’s length.
Frank Szakaley (Maver NW) was second with his net of decent-sized skimmers weighing 7lb, which also fell to the pole, worm and caster.
Derek Greenwood wsa third with 5lb 13oz of skimmers.
ROB McKendry took first place in the Todmorden AS match on Townhouse.
Opting for pole and pellet tactics, he bagged 36lb 8oz of big carp.
Stuart Edwards was second with 32lb of carp on the the pole and paste.
FORMER angling correspondent Keith Hyde showed that retirement had not dulled his ability with the pole as he won the Highfield Fisheries OAPs match on Beech Lake.
Employing maggot at six metres, he targeted the venue’s silver fish population for a superb 48lb net of ide to 1lb.
Hyde was well ahead of the next man, Keith Anderson, who had 2lb 8oz of ide and small carp.
THE Todmorden AS pairs match on Croft Fishery went to Rob McEndry and John Mellor, from Chris Oliver and Peter Fitton.
Third-best on the day were Pete Mottram and Chris Lett.
SADDLEWORTH and District Anglers are staging a members-only match on Eagle Mill Dam on Sunday, October 23.
The draw time is at 8.30am, with fishing from 9.30am to 2.30pm.

Ogden Reservoir: Producing good-sized bream on the tip, maggot and worm. Roach to float-fished maggot. Day tickets on the bank and at Tight Lines in Shaw.
Huddersfield Narrow Canal: Patchy at the moment, with just the odd fish being caught. Only a few anglers are braving the elements.
Rochdale Canal: Plenty of small roach falling to bread punch. Red maggot and hemp all worth a try.
Chadderton Mill Lodge: Fished well at the weekend, with lots of carp and ide on pellet or maggot fished shallow out and on the deck close in. This is a members-only water.
Park Lake: Matches have stopped, but chub and skimmers still feeding well. Day tickets available on the bank.
