FOOTBALL:
TWO cracking goals earned Chadderton a 2-1 win over Daisy Hill in the Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One.
Nick Chadwick opened the scoring after eight minutes with a wonderful lob from 20 yards.
Damon Clines levelled matters against the run of play with a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock, and it was all-square at the break.
Both sides created chances in the second period as the match became more stretched, and Sean Nolan struck the winner just after the hour mark, as his volley from the edge of the box smashed against the inside of the post and crossed the line.
Chadderton boss Paul Buckley said: "It was a very good game and we had to work extremely hard to grind out the result we needed.
"Both goals were of the highest quality, the lads involved will be pleased with themselves and rightly so.
"It has been a bit of a slow start to the season for ourselves but last week we came from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with Norton and now this victory can hopefully be a springboard."
Chadderton travel to Curzon Ashton tonight in the first round of the Manchester Premier Cup (7.45pm kick-off), with boss Buckley likely to give chances to several fringe players.
OLDHAM Boro claimed a 3-2 triumph at Ashton Town in the NWCL Division One.
Redmond Parker pounced for the visitors after half-an-hour and Mark Coyne extended the lead just after the restart.
The hosts hit back with a goal from Harry McGill before Coyne struck again with 15 minutes remaining.
Adam Gilchrist netted for Town in the dying seconds but Boro clinched three points.
MOSSLEY romped to a 4-1 win at Ossett Albion in the Evo-Stik League Division One North.
Nathan Neequaye broke the deadlock for the Lilywhites after 13 minutes and the prolific Cameron Darkwah made it 2-0 soon afterwards.
Darkwah got his second just before the interval, and although Daryl Lucas replied for the home outfit after an hour, Osebi Abadaki's effort in the 88th minute put the icing on the cake for Mossley.a
