DARTS: OLDHAM darts team broke their duck in the Lancashire GMC Super Eights Elite League with a 6-4 win at home to St Helens.

Andy Pearson was the star of the show at Crompton Conservative Club, Shaw. He averaged 93.73 for every three darts thrown in an emphatic 4-0 triumph.

Carl Sneyd was also to the fore. He swept aside his rival 4-0 (75.57) in the final game to repel a Saints fight back.

It capped a fine weekend for rugby leage ace Sneyd, who scored a hat-trick of tries and kicked eight goals in Waterhead’s victory over Eccles in the National Conference League.

After losing their opening two league matches, Oldham got off to the perfect start with birthday boy Ian Walters recording a 4-1 win (74.22).

St Helens came out on top in the next two games to edge ahead, only for the hosts to real off three wins on the trot.

John Moreton hit a brace of 180s in a 4-1 success (73.31), Lee Holden won 4-3 (78.57) and Peter Connolly triumphed 4-2 (78.32).

St Helens won two of the following three contests to trail by one, but Sneyd held his nerve.

Oldham are away to Lune Valley on Sunday. Players meet Crompton Con Club at 10.30am.
