Trio boost Higgy ranks

RUGBY: HIGGINSHAW are hopeful of better times ahead in North-West Counties League Division Two after signing a clutch of new players.
Stand-off Nathan Jewitt and loose forward Jordan Hanley have stepped up into open age rugby league after leaving Saddleworth Rangers, where they played for the under-18s side. And second-row man Lee Burke is back at the club after a spell out of the game. Hanley has already made his mark with a couple of man-of-the-match performances.
Meanwhile, Higgy were unable to raise a team for last weekend’s fixture at UIverston as almost half of the side were attending a wedding. Club officials asked for a postponement, but the league handed Ulverston an 18-0 win in default. This Saturday Higgy are away to mid-table Haresfinch, where a win could lift them off the foot of the table.
