WATERLOO and Taunton produced a stunning performance to beat Hopwood 10-1 and strengthen their grip on the Inbev Winter Bowling League’s ‘A’ Division title race.
Only Steve McHugh, who beat the previously-undefeated Peter Fielding 21-14, was successful for Hopwood as Waterloo showed their expertise on the artificial surface at Chadderton Cot.
Springbank were also in fine form, sweeping aside the host club 10-1, while Nimble Nook overcame Springhead 8-3 in the other ‘A’ Division fixture.
Vixens remained in second place in the ‘B’ Division after a 7-4 defeat of Stalybridge, while there were also wins for Failsworth and Prestwich.
IAN Bardsley won the latest winter bowls competition at Ashton Cricket Club.
After beating Len Stewart 21-19 in the last four, Bardsley enjoyed a 21-10 victory over Janelle Pertoldi in the final.
Pertoldi overcame Hilary White 21-13 in the other semi-final, while John Blezzard defeated Phil Bottomley 21-14 in the consolation final.
