OLDHAM firsts were happy to come away with a 2-2 draw from their home clash with Northern Hockey Club, of Southport, in North Women’s League Division Two.
A first-half penalty corner saw Gill Lord fire in the opener for the visitors, but the lead was short-lived as Northern restored parity before half-time.
Oldham regained the lead in the second half through a Louise Howard strike.
The home side piled on the pressure and equalised from a penalty corner moments later.
A string of fine saves from Oldham’s player-of-the-day, goalkeeper Sarah Simpson, kept Northern at bay as they pushed for a winner.
Oldham’s second team were on the wrong end of a 7-0 scoreline against Greater Manchester Division One pacesetters Didsbury.
The local outfit battled all the way but were powerless to prevent the high-flyers from scoring five times in the first half.
Oldham upped their game in the second period, but despite great defensive work from player-of-the-day Amy Broadbent, Didsbury added two more goals to their tally.
It was Oldham’s worst defeat of the season and leaves them languishing at the bottom of the table with a solitary point.
Oldham’s third team bowed out of the All Divisions Cup with a 1-0 defeat at home to Didsbury Greys.
The hosts produced a much-improved display, but were unable to convert any of their chances.
