Away success for Avro
Date published: 11 November 2011
LEADERS Avro enjoyed a 3-1 win at struggling AFC Bury in the Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League Premier Division.
Andy Robinson bagged a brace and, after the hosts pulled back a goal, James Hampton completed the scoring.
Phil Brown’s side are one point ahead of second-placed East Manchester and two clear of Hindsford, who occupy third position.
“AFC Bury always give teams a hard time because they are determined,” said Brown.
“The pitch was a bit of a mud bath, but we battled through and in the second half we were comfortable.
“I honestly do not look at the league table at this stage of the season, but obviously I am pleased with how things are going.
“The good thing is we have played East Manchester, Hindsford and Old Alts away from home, so they are three tough tests out of the way already.”
Avro hosts fifth-placed Stockport Georgians tomorrow.
Division One action saw Hollinwood go down to a 2-1 defeat at Atherton Town.
