MATCH OF THE DAY
Oldham GPO 2, Failsworth Athletic 4
FAILSWORTH Athletic recorded their fifth consecutive win when they overcame Oldham GPO in the D and J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League David Giblin Division One at Snipe Clough.
Relegated last season from the Jack Abbott Premier Division after a long and illustrious spell, there are signs that a swift return could well be on the cards for Athletic.
They have been infused with fresh blood due to replace many of the long-serving and extremely loyal members of the side.
One of the newcomers, Niall Sultan, really does look a class act and scored a brace of goals.
Athletic secretary Graham Speakman said: "No one is getting carried away by our recent run of form and a season of consolidation wouldn't do us any harm.
"We deserved the win against GPO because we worked hard and took our chances well.
