Win puts spring in ’Bank’s step

BOWLS: SPRINGBANK won the top clash in the ‘A’ Division of the Inbev Winter Bowling League, overcoming Hopwood 7-4.

Leaders Waterloo and Taunton strengthened their position with an 8-3 defeat of Springhead, while Chadderton Cot registered a welcome 8-3 success against Nimble Nook.

In the ‘B’ Division, New Street stayed unbeaten after a 7-4 defeat of Prestwich, while there were also wins for Dogwood and Failsworth.


JOHN Blezzard (Ashton) beat Alan Bidwell (Hollinwood) 21-10 in the final of the latest Ashton Cricket Club competition.
In the semi-finals, Blezzard defeated Ian Bardsley (Ashton) 21-19, while Bidwell overcame Dave Gwilliam (Stockport) 21-15. The consolation final was won by Janelle Pertoldi (Oldham), who overcame Charlie Roberts (Dukinfield) 21-10.
