Treble-up Tony is BAE star

TABLE TENNIS: TONY Smith held his nerve to help BAE to a nail-biting 6-4 win over Hollinwood ‘A’ in Division One of the Oldham and District Table Tennis League.
Player-of-the-match Smith enjoyed a hat-trick of victories, all coming in five games. Hollinwood replied with a good display from Paul King, who gained two wins, including a straight sets success over Tony Bates.
In the battle between Werneth’s ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams, the former emerged victorious in a 7-3 scoreline.
Darryl Meredith bagged yet another treble for the ‘A’ side, with Dave Pegg securing a double for the opposition.
Hollinwood ‘C’ produced a spirited display in a 7-3 defeat against a strong Glodwick ‘B’ team, for whom Khamal Hussain posted a maximum.
A double from Jack Christian and a single from Dave Cheetham kept the scoreline respectable.
