FOOTBALL: UPPERMILL progressed to the second round of the Huddersfield and District League’s Barlow Cup courtesy of a 3-2 win at Royal Dolphins.
Gareth Chew poked home for the visitors after 20 minutes, but Royal Dolphins netted next, despite a suspicion of offside.
Against the run of play Uppermill went behind after 53 minutes from a corner.
But the equaliser arrived almost immediately — a home defender handled in the penalty area and Nick Fitzpatrick slotted home the resultant spot-kick.
And with 25 minutes remaining, Kristian Ventress nodded in the winner from Andrew Cooney’s throw.
Heyside exited the competition after a 3-2 defeat at Berry Brow despite goals from Carl Winstanley.
But the reserves moved into the quarter-finals of the Richardson Cup thanks to an 8-4 triumph over Shepley reserves.
Steven Partington and Chris Taylor both bagged braces, while John Hickey, Karl Warburton, Luke Hancock and Jake Warburton were also on the mark.
