Stevenson screamer

FOOTBALL: SPRINGHEAD earned a 1-1 draw against high-flying East Manchester at Ashfield Crescent in the Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League Premier Division.
After such a commanding display, the hosts were left slightly disappointed that they did not claim all three points.
Mark Hopwood and Scott Owen both went close for Springhead before the visitors went in front from a set piece 10 minutes into the second-half. The home outfit kept plugging away and got the equaliser they deserved when substitute Paul Stevenson curled home a screamer from the edge of the penalty area.
Springhead’s Richard Bennett was sent off for a second bookable offence with 15 minutes remaining.
Avro lost their grip on top spot after suffering a 1-0 home reverse at the hands of Stockport Georgians.
But there was better news for Royton Town, who roared to a 4-1 win at West Didsbury & Chorlton.
Division One action saw Hollinwood slump to an 11-3 loss at home to Leigh Athletic.
