NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: OLDHAM Boro are poised to hand a debut to new signing Jordan Leech when they entertain Atherton Collieries tomorrow in Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One.

The 18-year-old ex-Curzon Ashton full-back joined the club this week.

Darren Scanlon, who missed the Manchester Premier Cup defeat to Salford City last time out due to him not being registered in time, is likely to return to the side. Andy Smith could also be back following a thigh injury.

Boro manager Tony Mills said: “Atherton Collieries are only three points above us in the table, so this represents an opportunity to close the gap. We need to get in their faces from the get-go. It should be a good game.”

CHADDERTON host high-flying Wigan Robin Park in NWCL Division One. Paul Buckley’s side, who occupy eighth position in the table, are six places and 16 points behind tomorrow’s opponents, though Chadderton have two games in hand.

MOSSLEY host Trafford in Evo-Stik League Division One North. After squandering leads in their last four games, Gareth McClelland’s men will be looking to demonstrate more defensive stability.
One player who can help on that front is full-back Tom Ingham, who has been selected for England under-18s schoolboys’ initial 32-player training squad. He will take part in sessions at Lilleshall at the start of next month.

Ingham and fellow 17-year-old Andy McKernon were both involved in England’s regional trials at Blackburn Rovers.
