Fletcher’s wonder goal to no avail
Date published: 21 November 2011
BEN Fletcher scored from inside his own half, but the strike was in vain as Chadderton slipped to a 2-1 loss at home to Wigan Robin Park.
Sean Judge put the visitors ahead after half-an-hour in the Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One clash at Broadway.
Fletcher’s wonder goal restored parity two minutes later, only for high-flying Robin Park to clinch victory courtesy of a Phil Howard effort 20 minutes from time.
Oldham Boro also tasted defeat in Division One, against Atherton Collieries at Whitebank.
Simon Howard scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot in the 69th minute.
MOSSLEY had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Trafford in a hard-fought Evo-Stik League Division One North encounter at Seel Park. Nathan Neequaye put Gareth McClelland’s side in front after 24 minutes.
But Trafford were level just after the half-hour mark when former Mossley man Mike Oates fired home from the penalty spot.
