Date published: 22 November 2011
TABLE TENNIS: SADDLEWORTH CC ‘A’ extended their record to 10 wins out of 10 with a 6-4 defeat of BAE in Division One of the Oldham and District Table Tennis League.
Paul Cicchelli completed a hat-trick, with Ian McLean bagging two. For good measure, they partnered each other to claim the doubles.
Hollinwood ‘B’ gained their first win of the season against Honeywell ‘B’, but they remain bottom of the table. Matty Evans, Nathan Buckley and Paul King won two games each.
In Division Two, leaders Hyde YM ‘A’ posted 7-3 victories against Uppermill ‘A’ and Droylsden.
Ken Ward and Lionel Royle enjoyed doubles in both matches, while Richard Sarre went one better with a maximum against Uppermill. Deaf ‘A’ beat Grotton ‘B’ 8-2 to go second in Division Three.
Liaqat Ali posted a hat-trick of wins, while Ian Cockcroft and Dave Varney registered doubles.
Werneth ‘D’ remain one point above Gilders in mid-table as, predictably, the points were shared in the clash between the two sides.
