SNOOKER:

DEAF ‘B’ made a sterling attempt to put the brakes on leaders Springbank ‘A’ in the Pet Au Purrs Oldham Amateur Snooker League.

But breaks of 36 from M J Smith and 31 from D Reece were not enough to sway the result in the home side’s favour, Springbank ‘A’ running out 4-2 winners to keep their place at the top.

Little Cot ‘A’ returned to winning ways at Blue Club ‘B’, helped by a break of 32 from Danny Balcerzak.

But Royton Band lost at home to Moss Inn, despite a break of 30 from Colin Hopkinson.

COMRADES ‘A’ moved into second place in the Saw-Tech Shaw Snooker League after beating Crompton Cons 5-1.

Man-of-the-match I McWilliams had a brilliant 57 break, while team-mate M Hobbs enjoyed a run of 30.

Moss Inn stayed in touch with the leaders after winning 4-2 at Cricket Club.

But they were pushed all the way, winning two of three black-ball frames.
