SNOOKER:
PROFESSIONAL potter Nigel Bond was in sparkling form during an exhibition at Oldham Snooker Academy.
Bond, runner-up to Stephen Hendry in the 1995 World Championship and British Open champion the following year, played a number of local amateur players. And one of them, 20-year-old Farakh Ajaib, managed to win a frame against him thanks to a break of 49.
Bond, the reigning Snooker Shoot-Out champion — a title he won on television in Blackpool — made three century breaks and a couple of 80s, and came within touching distance of a maximum 147.
In his final frame against Sajid Zamurd, Bond potted 14 reds and 13 blacks before missing.
