FOOTBALL:
DIGGLE came away from Moldgreen clutching all three points after recording a fine 4-2 win in this Huddersfield League Division One clash.
The visitors went ahead after 15 minutes when Tom Matley’s corner picked out Danny Cheetham, who bundled the ball home at the far post. They bagged a second moments later when the impressive Matthew Taylor turned his marker on the edge of the penalty area before firing home.
Dominant Diggle seemed set to add to their tally, but it was Moldgreen who pulled a goal back just before half-time after a defensive lapse in concentration.
Within minutes of the restart the hosts were level following a move which beat the offside trap. But Diggle stuck to the task and were back in front after 65 minutes when Kelvin McWatt converted a cross from the industrious Nathan Boote.
Before Moldgreen had time to regroup, Diggle struck again when Taylor’s angled drive was parried into his own goal by the ’keeper.
UPPERMILL, from Division One, crashed out of the Huddersfield League Challenge Cup after a 3-1 defeat at home to Hepworth.
A DISAPPOINTING display saw Heyside slip to a 2-1 defeat at Heywood Irish. Danny Cashin scored the consolation goal for the local outfit, who now sit in the bottom half of Division Two.
Heyside’s second string reached the last 16 of the Manchester FA Amateur Cup after a backs-to-the-wall 1-0 win over Salford Victoria. Ashley Blakeman got the only goal.
MOORSIDE registered only their second win of the season in Division Four with a 4-2 defeat of Crowchester United, and 3D Dynamos overcame Mount 2-0.
