Kennedy leads way for Cot ‘A’

SNOOKER:
LITTLE Cot ‘A’ are keeping Springbank ‘A’ in their sights in the Pet Au Purrs Oldham Amateur Snooker League.
Martin Kennedy recorded a break of 36 for Cot ‘A’ in a 4-2 victory over Stanley Road.
Nick Broadbent’s 35 break ensured Blue Club ‘A’ avoided a whitewash at home to Deaf ‘A’.
MJ Smith’s break of 38 in the last frame for Deaf ‘B’ clinched a point but it was not enough to claim the aggregate as they were beaten 4-2 by 3C’s ‘B’.
A second-frame break of 32 from A Bamford put High Crompton 2-0 up against Oldham Rugby, who replied with victories from A Pickup and D Carr. But G Hill made sure the visitors returned home with a 4-2 success.
YORKSHIRE Ward 1 are the new leaders of the Saddleworth Snooker League.
They reached the summit courtesy of a 4-2 win at basement boys Dobcross. P Durrans set the ball rolling for Yorkshire, while P Hudson wrapped up victory in the last frame with a convincing win over G Lever.
SECOND-in-the-table Comrades ‘A’ were beaten 5-1 by their ‘B’ team in the Saw-Tech Shaw League.
The result allowed Tara Leisure to storm five points clear thanks to a 5-1 defeat of Cartshaft.
The next league meeting is at Comrades tomorrow (8pm).
