FOOTBALL:
DIGGLE edged a thrilling 4-3 victory at Shepley in the Huddersfield and District League Division One.
The visitors found themselves trailing after just 90 seconds, with Shepley capitalising on some hesitant defending. But 10 minutes later Matthew Jackson capped a sweeping team move, blasting home to level matters.
Diggle had an air of confidence about them and took the lead with 20 minutes on the clock, Jackson netting again from a corner. The away outfit appeared to be heading towards the interval in a comfortable position, but a push in the penalty area saw Shepley convert the resultant spot-kick.
With an hour gone and the game fairly tight, Tom Matley produced a poacher’s finish to restore the lead for Diggle.
And when Matt Taylor was dragged back in the box, Nathan Boote netted from the spot. Shepley pulled back a goal with two minutes remaining but their opponents held firm to claim three points.
Elsewhere Uppermill beat Berry Brow 2-1.
Gareth Chew nodded home a Kristian Ventress cross after 25 minutes. Berry Brow equalised after an hour but 10 minutes later Chew fired home Murray Hill’s corner.
