HOCKEY:
OLDHAM Hockey Club firsts left Formby Ladies empty-handed, despite producing one of their best displays so far this season.
The visitors enjoyed plenty of possession in the North Women’s Division Two clash, but they were unable to create any clear-cut opportunities.
The only goal of the game arrived late on, with Formby claiming the spoils. Oldham remain 10th in the table, three places off the bottom.
The club’s second team, who are at the foot of Division One in the Greater Manchester League, discovered their scoring touch in the All-Divisions Cup.
At home to Glossop, they moved into the last eight of the competition thanks to an 8-1 victory.
Fran Lees and Christine Holman led the way by each claiming hat-tricks. Rachel Geraghty also found her touch in front of goal with a double, while Chidi Onuoha was outstanding.
