Highfield United 4, Puckersley 1
PUCKERSLEY FC tendered their resignation from the D & J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League following defeat away to Highfield United in David Giblin Division One.
Mark Hopwood, James Kelly and Andrew Stafford got the decisive early goals for Highfield and, although Josh Briddon pulled one back for Puckersley, Richard Ollerton put the issue beyond doubt midway through the second half.
Anthony Duffy, the Puckersley secretary, said: "We have struggled to get a team together for the last few weeks and this defeat was just the final nail in the coffin. We have no complaints: once we had gone 3-0 down so early on in the game there was no way back for us. Who knows what the future holds? Maybe after a few months the lads will miss it.” Puckersley's record will be expunged from the league.
