Athletic miss out

FOOTBALL:
FAILSWORTH Athletic missed the chance to go top of David Giblin Division One in the D&J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League.
In a reduced programme because of waterlogged pitches — only five games got the go-ahead — Athletic were beaten 3-2 by mid-table Radclyffe Arms, for whom Darren Dunleavey, Lee Scanlon and Daniel Murdoch did the damage.
Carrion Crow overcame Limeside Athletic, leaders of Martin Buckley Division Two. Matthew Lill (two), Callum Beckett and Kev Knowles got the goals in the 4-3 victory, which pushed their side to within six points of the summit.
Parkside and Blue Club had to settle for a point each after sharing 10 goals. Chaddy End hit Oddies Athletic for six in the sole Jack Abbott Premier Division to take place — Shaun Roscoe and Tom Keegan scored two apiece — while Springhead Libs ‘B’, thanks to Nuno Melo’s treble strike, edged out Famous King George ‘B’ 3-2 in Division Three.
