Top award for Sinfield

OLDHAM-born Kevin Sinfield (31) brought down the curtain on another superb year by being named the Yorkshire Post sports performer of 2011.

The stand-off, who captained Leeds Rhinos to an unprecedented fifth Super League Grand Final success this year, emerged victorious in a poll of readers.

Sinfield made his Leeds debut at 16 in 1997 and is due to make his 400th appearance on the opening day of the new season against Hull KR on February 3.
