SPRINGHEAD returned to action in the Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League Premier Division after a five-week absence, but threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Prestwich Heys.
The visitors made a bright start and took the lead with 20 minutes on the clock. Josh Walker’s through ball found Paul Stevenson, whose shot was diverted into the net by a Prestwich defender.
Springhead doubled their advantage after half-an-hour when Mark Ashworth was pulled down inside the penalty area and Stevenson converted the resultant spot-kick.
Prestwich hit back five minutes before the break when Springhead goalkeeper Steve Szklanki palmed a cross into his own net.
After the interval Prestwich improved and they snatched an equaliser just after the hour mark when a long-range effort.
Division One action saw Hollinwood win 3-0 at Woodley Sports reserves (see John Gilder’s Match of the Day).
