Non-league football: OLDHAM Boro hit back to draw 3-3 at neighbours Rochdale Town in Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One.

Lee Knowles swapped passes with James Curley before smashing the ball home in the seventh minute, only for Chris Ogunyode to equalise after a quarter-of-an-hour and Kristian Evans to put Rochdale in front 60 seconds later.

Ogunyode struck again just after the half-hour mark, but Knowles reduced the arrears before the break for Boro, lobbing the goalkeeper after Curley’s deft pass.

Will Buckley ensured Boro made the short trip home with a share of the spoils when, with 20 minutes remaining, he headed in Curley’s cross from the by-line.

Boro boss Tony Mills said: “It is a shame we had a couple of lapses in concentration early on because e did well in the second half and deserved the point.”

MOSSLEY suffered injury-time heartache in their 2-1 defeat at Witton Albion in Evo-Stik League Division One North.
New Lilywhites boss Steve Halford, taking charge of a league game for the first time since succeeding Gareth McClelland, recalled Ben Fallows and Lee Rick to the starting line-up.

A decent start saw Kayde Coppin go close before Albion goalkeeper Matt Cooper denied Tom Denton, palming away the big targetman’s powerful header after good work from Dan Queeley.

The visitors broke the deadlock after half-an-hour. Queeley beat his man and crossed to Nathan Taylor, who evaded two tackles before feeding Denton and the striker nodded in from six yards.

Had Mossley held on to their lead until the interval the game could have gone in a different direction, but just before the whistle Anthony Gardner fired home from long-range.

The visitors’ chances were harmed early in the second half when goalkeeper Peter Collinge was hurt when punching clear, and he struggled with the knock for the rest of the contest.

Substitute Nathan Neequaye curled the ball wide late on before Danny Andrews won it for Albion at the death, pouncing on Matt Wood’s long punt forward.
