AMATEUR FOOTBALL:
NORTHSIDE and Royton Athletic have quit the D & J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League due to a lack of players.
Both clubs depart the Marin Buckley Division Two and have had their records expunged.
Their mid-season exit comes hot on the heels of Puckersley’s decision to quit for the same reason.
On the pitch, Joe Heap was at the double for Limeside King George as they saw off Oddies 3-1 in the Jack Abbott Premier Division.
Chris Crothers also netted for the hosts, with Liam Cashmore registering a consolation strike for Oddies. No other top-flight action was possible due to the bad weather.
David Giblin Division One action saw FC Radclyffe edge out Springhead Libs ‘A’ 1-0 thanks to a D Dunleavy effort.
Scott Rowbottom notched a brace as Highfield United earn a 2-2 home draw with Failsworth Athletic, for whom Nial Sultan also pounced twice. His second goal, a long-range free-kick, earned a share of the spoils (see John Gilder’s Match of the Day).
