BOWLS:
NEW STREET made it 14 wins from as many matches in the ‘B’ Division of the Inbev Winter Bowling League at Chadderton Cot.
But they were given a rare scare by Vixens, who made them pull out all the stops to register a 7-4 victory and stay firmly on course for the title.
Kevin Newbury handed in the decisive scorecard for New Street, winning 21-8.
Other games in the ‘B’ Division saw Prestwich defeat Dogwood 7-4 and Failsworth see off struggling Wanderers 10-1.
The top three teams in the ‘A’ Division all won.
Leaders Waterloo and Taunton beat Chadderton Cot 9-2, a victory matched by second-placed Springbank, who overcame Nimble Nook.
Hopwood saw off Springhead 8-3 despite Brian Reddyoff’s 21-9 victory for the latter.
A meeting of league delegates will be held at the Cot tomorrow night (7pm).
The earlier start time is to avoid a clash with the televised Liverpool v Manchester City Carling Cup semi-final.
