Heyside's dreams of playing in the top flight of the Huddersfield and District League moved a step closer to reality after victory over Heywood Irish Centre at Royton 3G.
Four wins on the bounce have taken Heyside up to second place in Division One.
And long-serving club official John Norbury is relishing the prospect of his club pitting their wits against the likes of Uppermill and Diggle next season.
Norbury said: "We've played a few more games than the teams around us but we've got the points on the board and that's the important thing.
"It is our target to play in Division One and we would love to be there, but we're not getting too carried away just yet."
The only things that were getting carried away — almost — on an extremely blustery afternoon were the players, officials and a handful of spectators.
The wind blew from almost every angle, making fluent play difficult and contributing heavily to a goalless and scrappy first half when both sides tried their utmost to combat the conditions. But it was Heyside who made the breakthrough six minutes after the restart when Jason Titterington hammered the ball home from eight yards following Leon Parry's rebounded effort.
A lapse in the Heyside defence allowed the visitors to pull level less than five minutes later.
But home advantage was restored with 66 minutes on the clock when Robert Flynn struck.
Titterington made it 3-1 on 72 minutes — again Taylor the provider —before Jordan Smithies wrapped it up.
He produced a looping header from 16 yards with 10 minutes remaining, after the Heywood
goalkeeper had punched the ball clear from a corner-kick.
The prospect of three local sides in the top flight of the Huddersfield League is indeed a mouth-watering one and Heyside are on track.
