DARTS: PATIENCE was a virtue for Gary Jackson on his Lancashire debut.
The 26-year-old Oldham player was picked for the county fixture away to Warwickshire and, after enduring a nervy wait to step on to the oche, he emerged as the ‘B’ team’s match-winner, beating his opponent 3-2 in the final match to clinch a 7-5 win for the away side.
Oldham team-mates Stuart Holden and Ian Walters were also in action for Lancs ‘B’. The former won 3-0, while the latter was edged out 3-2.
Holden also turned out for Lancs in the ‘A’ fixture, and a 3-1 victory helped his side to a 7-5 success.
In the women’s competition, Oldham’s Janet Fox showed her class for the ‘A’ team — she won 3-1 as Lancs drew 3-3 — and daughter Shereen Downs enjoyed a 3-1 success in a 5-1 victory for Lancs ‘B’.
The efforts of the quintet helped Lancs to 22-14 win overall.
