BOWLS:
DESPITE the big freeze, the Inbev Winter Bowling League ‘A’ Division title race is hotting up.
Before Saturday’s fixtures, Waterloo and Taunton looked to be in complete control.
But as ice and snow hit Chadderton Cot’s artificial surface, leaders Waterloo slipped to a surprise 6-5 defeat at the hands of Springhead, while second-placed Springbank overcame Hopwood – who had two men missing – 9-2.
Springbank are now only 12 points behind Waterloo with a game in hand.
All of Sunday’s games in the ‘B’ Division were called off because of snow.
