NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL:
MOSSLEY secretary Harry Hulmes hopes the club’s Manchester Premier Cup heroics can give a boost to their Evo-Stik League Division One North form.
The Lilywhites thrashed Salford City 4-1 in midweek to set up a showdown with Droylsden in the final, for which the venue and date are yet to be arranged.
Steve Halford’s men, 17th in the table, return to league action tomorrow with a trip to Warrington Town, who are five positions and 16 points better off.
Hulmes said: “We are all absolutely delighted to have reached the Manchester Premier Cup final, and are optimistic that the form we have shown in that competition can translate into our league campaign.
“It is all about picking up points and moving up the table.
“The confidence is there for all to see now. Steve came in a couple of months ago at a difficult time and picked up the squad.
“The spirit generated by him and assistant Peter Band was typified by the win at Salford in the semi-finals.
“The scoreline actually flattered our opponents — it could have been 8-1.
“If we can finish the season in mid-table and give a good account of ourselves in the final, it will be a success.”
Full-back Keil O’Brien (knee) is Mossley’s only injury concern tomorrow.
OLDHAM Boro, 11th in the table, go to second-place Wigan Robin Park tomorrow in Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One.
Chadderton are without a fixture this weekend.
