Michael Wild: European bid
SNOOKER:
MOORSIDE’S Michael Wild has been selected to play for England in the European Three-Man Championship in Bulgaria from March 9 to 17.
He will represent his country alongside Nottingham’s Steve Judd and Liverpool’s Robbie Williams.
Wild , beaten 4-2 by Accrington’s Chris Norbury in the semi-finals of the Belle Vue pro-am at the weekend, has reached the last 32 of the Paul Hunter English Open.
He won his group in the qualifiers at the Northern Snooker Centre, Leeds, and is ready to give it his best shot in the knock-out stages against the country’s top amateurs back in Leeds next month.
Wild and four other Oldham-based players have reached the last 32 of the Manchester Open.
Steve Hatherill, Michael Wild, Paul Morgan, Mike Dickinson and Ryan Duffy will represent the town after coming through the qualifying rounds, Morgan making a break of 77.
The next stage of the competition takes place on March 7 at Riley’s Snooker Club, Belle Vue.
