AMATEUR RUGBY:

ALL roads lead to a district of Leeds tomorrow as Oldham St Anne’s and Waterhead look to book a place in round two of the Carnegie Challenge Cup.

Saints take on Hunslet Warriors, National Conference League interim winners, and the men from Peach Road lock horns with Hunslet Old Boys.

Chris Deakin, the Saints coach, knows his side are in for a stern examination.

Deakin said: “It will be a good test for us and one we need with the start of the league season a little over a week away.

“Hunslet are a good side. They are a bit of a feeder club for Leeds Rhinos, so they have some talented players.”

Saints have one injury concern. Kevin McCormack is rated as 50-50 by Deakin after sustaining an ankle injury in the Standard Cup defeat of Fitton Hill. Dane English is definitely misses the tie because of work commitments.

Waterhead’s opponents are going great guns in the Pennine League Premier Division.

Old Boys are second in the table, with nines wins from 10 matches.

A STANDARD Cup semi-final place is up for grabs when Higginshaw visit Rochdale Mayfield on Wednesday (7pm).
