Chronicle Handicap dates and venues

BOWLS:
DATES and greens have been finalised for this year’s Oldham Evening Chronicle Bowling Handicap.
Subject to confirmation, heats will be held at North Chadderton Social and Bowling Club, Moorside, Nimble Nook and Stanley Road on Fridays, June 1 and 8 (6.45pm). The finals will be held at Royton Cricket Club on Saturday, July 7 (6.30pm).
An entry form will be published in the Chronicle when the new bowls season gets into full swing in April.
THE Inbev Winter Bowling League’s ‘B’ Division fixtures were completed at the weekend when champions New Street ended their campaign with a 10-1 defeat of Stalybridge.
Attention now switches to the team knock-outs and individual handicaps on the Chadderton Cot artificial surface.
In two other one-sided matches, Failsworth defeated Prestwich 10-1, while Vixens beat Wanderers by the same margin.
FOR the second successive weekend, Dukinfield’s Gareth Gwilliam won the Ashton CC winter competition, beating Charlie Roberts (Waterloo and Taunton) 21-15 in the final.
In the semi-finals, Gwilliam defeated organiser Len Stewart 21-10, while Roberts saw off Keith Matley (Hyde) 21-13. The consolation final was won by Gareth’s father, Dave, who beat Julie Foster 15-12.
