SNOOKER:
THREE Cs ‘A’ were in the pink after registering a superb 5-1 victory at Deaf ‘B’ in the Pet Au Purrs Oldham Amateur Snooker League.
G Brophy won the first frame for Three Cs, but D Smith levelled the scores with the help of a fine 40 break.
A Mellor put Three Cs back in front by winning the third frame and although Deaf player M J Smith made a break of 46 in the fourth, it was not enough to take the frame, Colin Tanahill claiming that one for the visitors.
Three Cs rounded off a great night’s work when P Watkinson took the final frame against Deaf’s D Reece.
High Crompton’s 5-1 win at home to Little Cot ‘B’ included a break of 36 from Geoff Hill. Victory kept High Crompton in second place.
But the 13-match unbeaten streak by Little Cot ‘A’ came to an end when they went down 5-1 at home to Moss Inn.
WATERHEAD ‘B’ were in dominant form in their Oldham and District Billiards and Snooker League snooker section match against High Crompton CC.
Wins by D Wainwright, P Bennion and M Bennion comfortably secured the aggregate point against High Crompton, for whom A Bamford was the only winner. There were also 4-1 victories for St Georges ‘A’, Werneth Park ‘A’ and Shaw British Legion.
But Healds Green fared even better, taking maximum points from their game against Waterhead ‘A’.
SAW-TECH Shaw Snooker League leaders Tara Leisure and second-placed Comrades ‘B’ had 5-1 wins to keep the title race extremely tight.
Tara overcame Royton Cons ‘A’, while Comrades made it a miserable night for the Royton club by beating the ‘B’ team. A league delegates meeting will be held at Cricket Club tomorrow (8pm).
