Let’s win with style — Brown

FOOTBALL:
AVRO manager Phil Brown has called on his players to do amateur football proud in tomorrow night’s Manchester Challenge Cup final against East Manchester at Sport City (7pm kick-off).
Brown is proud of the holders' ability to pass and move in the Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League Premier Division and wants his men to showcase their skills on the bigger stage provided by Manchester City’s state-of-the-art complex.
He said: “You look at some amateur football now and the image is not great — I can’t really watch Sunday League matches anymore.
“People don’t come away from them with a very good impression and I can understand why.
“But we like to move the ball around and show some flair and tactics.
“It is an opportunity to show what can be achieved in amateur football, not just by winning but doing it in a certain way.”
Brown is looking for revenge after a 4-1 thrashing at East Manchester in the league earlier this term.
He added: “It gives us added incentive to get back at them and put things right. It is not sour grapes because they totally deserved to win, but we do not want a repeat display.”
Midfielders Michael Connor and Phil Salt miss out for Avro due to other commitments, while utility man Lee O’Brien is rated as 50-50 at best after sustaining a suspected broken toe.
