TABLE TENNIS:
MOHAMMED Sagied defeated Mark Ramsbottom, a former Oldham men’s singles and veterans title winner, to provide Hollinwood ‘B’ with their point against champions Glodwick in Division One of the Oldham Table Tennis League.
Mick Pellowe defeated Gary Skinner in a five-set clash for Werneth ‘B’ against Werneth ‘A’, who claimed an 8-2 win.
Colin Boardman triumphed over Tony Smith and Tom Lang, while his team-mate Ian Quinn overcame Dave Hamilton in Hollinwood’s 6-4 defeat of BAE.
In Division Two, Unison’s Larry Bainbridge lost his 100-per-cent record to Ken Ward, of Hyde YM ‘A’, in a 5-5 draw.
Mike Brierley was unbeaten for Unison, who lost the doubles in five sets against the high-flyers.
Miles Benjamin scored a maximum for Droylsden, including a win over Steve Hilton, in an 8-2 victory against Hyde YMCA ‘B’.
Junior player Matthew Kelly had two excellent wins for Werneth ‘E’ — he beat Rob Carter and Pete Buckley — in his team’s 8-2 defeat at Honeywell ‘D’ in Division Three.
Neil England, playing his best table tennis of the season so far, was unbeaten for Coldhurst ‘C’ against their ‘B’ team in a much-needed 6-4 victory.
