MAKING A BREAK: Josh Brown shows his pace as Oldham launch an attack
Oldham RUFC 0, St Edwards OB 8
OLDHAM succumbed to a fine team, who hung on to second place and the play-off spot in North Lancashire Division One.
Solid defence from both sides was the feature of this game after the visitors took the lead with a try straight from the kick-off.
St Edwards extended their advantage with a second-half penalty, but Oldham never stopped trying and went close on a number of occasions.
Oldham goalkicker Josh Brown had an off day, narrowly missing with three penalty attempts.
That said, sixth-placed Oldham can be pleased with their display as earlier in the season they would have wilted and succumbed to a much heavier defeat. They will be looking for a similar defensive effort, and a sharper cutting edge, when they travel to Hutton on Saturday.
