AUSTERLANDS Cricket Club will stage a Roses match this season.
The Nursery Fields outfit will host Lancashire under-15s against their Yorkshire counterparts on Wednesday, May 23 (start 1pm).
“This has come right out of the blue,” said Austerlands junior co-ordinator Peter Sunderland. “The decision to play the game here recognises the work we’ve done to improve the ground.
“The facilities, especially the changing rooms, are some of the best in the Saddleworth League and we must have ticked all the right boxes where Lancashire are concerned.”
Austerlands boast a strong junior set-up, with teams at under-nines, 10s, 13s and 17s level.
Meanwhile, the club require a first-team scorer for the start of the Versasteel Saddleworth and District Cricket League on Sunday, April 22. They will receive £20 per game, a tea and transport to away games. If anyone can help, call Peter Sunderland on 07801 204135.
