Joy turns to despair

MAKE WAY . . . Carl Fields, of St Oldham Anne’s, attempts to smash his way through the Castleford Panthers line.
RUGBY:
AFTER a fiery contest in which 35 penalties were awarded, Oldham St Anne’s were left looking for their first win in National Conference League Division One.
Despite taking an 11th lead when Niall Collins touched down Jordan White’s kick to the right corner, Chris Deakin’s men were beaten 24-16 by Castleford Panthers.
The visitors levelled moments later — Andy Tillet went in at the side of the posts for a Chris Knowles-goaled try — only for the Saints to nose ahead again.
Panthers were in front at half-time, Knowles converting his own try.
And the Yorkshire side increased their lead to 10 points just after the restart when replacement Jamie Chappell barged over and Knowles kicked the goal.
