MOSSLEY’S Manchester FA Premier Cup final showdown with Droylsden tonight has been postponed after the Bloods failed to raise a team.

The match, to be played at Hyde FC, is to be rescheduled.

Mossley boss Steve Halford said: “We are gutted because we were looking forward to the match, but Droylsden told us they couldn’t field a team.”

Mossley went down to 1-0 at home at the hands of title-chasing AFC Fylde at the weekend in Evo-Stik League Division One North.

The hosts looked solid defensively despite the threat of Richie Allen, the on-loan Fleetwood striker. And up front Kayde Coppin put in a tireless shift for Halford’s side.

Failsworth lad Joe Heap went close for Mossley with a curling effort in the best attempt of the first half.

The second period was an even affair but the visitors grabbed the only goal of the game after 74 minutes, Allen heading home James McCarthy’s cross.

CHADDERTON went down to a 4–1 defeat at Formby in North-West Counties League Division One.

Matthew Jones opened the scoring for the hosts after half-an-hour, before two Paul Speed strikes (61 and 84) sandwiched Michael Boyle’s effort.

Winger Paul Socha notched a late consolation for Chadderton.

OLDHAM Boro were beaten 1-0 at home by Wigan Robin Park in NWCL Division One. Stephen Edwards scored the winner with 20 minutes remaining.
