GO, Gorey, go: Oldham’s Andy Goreysprints towards the Littleborough line.
First team ruin Littleborough’s hot streak
RUGBY UNION: SUPERB Oldham brought Littleborough’s 18-match winning streak to a halt with a 29-17 triumph at Manor Park in North Lancashire Division One.
Guy Lovegreen’s side climbed to fourth in the table courtesy of four well-worked tries, which mustered a bonus point.
Lessons were learned from the reverse fixture in November, when the forwards were outplayed in Littleborough’s 22-6 success.
This time Oldham looked like a proper unit, aided by the return to the pack of Chris Heptonstall and Ross Cooper, who provide vital experience and organisational skills.
The hosts controlled possession and good play from the pack allowed Nick Hackman to crash over before Brown kicked the conversion to seal a memorable triumph for Oldham.
On Saturday Lovegreen’s in-form outfit entertain Hawcoat Park (3pm kick-off).
