RUGBY: EVERYTHING is rosy in the Waterhead garden after they made it three wins on the trot in the National Conference League with a 44-8 triumph at Heworth.
And while they again displayed a cutting edge, the defence were also on their ‘A’ game in the Division Two clash in York.
The hosts, who built an early 8-6 lead with tries from Ben Stoker and Chris Varley, were denied on three occasions by a stubborn Waterhead side.
Tries from Dale Lowe, Craig Highton and wingers David Hewitt and Fraser Coley, plus a couple of conversions from Michael Diveney, put the visitors in the ascendancy at the interval.
Diveney went on to kick six goals in total — he also scored a try — as Waterhead dominated the second half.
SADDLEWORTH Rangers appeared well set for a first success of the campaign in the Premier Division of the NCLeague after taking a 10-8 lead at Leigh East. But the hosts stormed back to win 52-10, with Gavin Hunter claiming four tries.
WITH Stanningley and Oldham St Anne’s seeking their first win of the NCL Division One
season, something had give and it was the hosts who were celebrating after an 18-12 victory.
The south Leeds side opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Glen Metcalf blasted in under the posts for a Liam Duffy goaled try.
