NETBALL: CHAMPIONS Oldham wrapped up their Premier League One season with a 59-51 victory at home to Bournemouth Blades.
Both teams emerged with all guns blazing. Oldham forged an early five-goal lead, with shooters Kathryn Turner and Krista Enziano combining well.
The visitors regrouped and the match was level at 13-13 at the first break.
After making a number of changes at the mid-way point, Oldham lost their flow.
Replacement Emma Dovey did best to pick up the pace while Dani Bloomfield and Maria McAndrew thrived on the extra possession.
Oldham made one switch for the final quarter, with Kathryn Turner returning to goal attack and Alice Travis moving to goal shooter from wing attack.
They had to shuffle the pack when Kerry Almond went over on her ankle and Georgie Webster suffered a nose bleed.
The disruption to the Oldham line-up allowed Bales to cut the deficit to three goals, but that was as close as they got.
A SUPERB team effort saw Oldham record a terrific 35-30 win over Deeside in the Northern League.
Two goals adrift at the end of the first quarter (11-9), the local team responded in great style and it was all-square (17-17) at the mid-way point.
The third quarter went goal-for-goal until Oldham nosed ahead at 25-24. Sensing victory, Oldham worked patiently through the court in the final quarter to gradually pull away from Deeside.
